About
Team Paws of Deception is jamming, but we will not be submitting our game to GGJ. We do not approve of the use of genAI to displace and diminish labour in games and other creative industries. That GGJ accepted sponsorship from, and therefore tacitly endorses, an AI company is abhorrent, and a kick in the teeth to the communities and cultures the jam is supposed to encourage. Any claims of due diligence are laughable, and the supposedly ethical dataset that the friends of GGJ are selling is morally bankrupt and arguably criminal. Our game will be available on itch.io.
I am glad that jammers around the world have come together, had a great time, and made some cool games despite this horrendous misstep from GGJ management. It is the makers who are important here, not the cash-flow. Going forward, there are plenty other jams to take part in.

Technology Notes
Stable Diffusion was trained on a dataset show to contain child sexual abuse imagery. Obviously that's not okay, and it's wild the GGJ global committee didn't do basic due diligence about the so called 'ethical' gAI company before accepting $5000 of sponsorship from them.
[Yeah, I know the image doesn't fit right, I put exactly as much effort into it, as the GGJ did to their due diligence]
