APU Games and Interactive Media announcements

Please take our Exit Survey!

Submitted by timsamoff on

Hi everyone!

It has been a week since we ended our game jam and I hope everyone is sufficiently recovered -- I also hope that you're staying dry!

I am sending one more announcement to ask that those of you who haven't completed our Exit Survey please take the 2 minutes (or less) that it takes to fill it out. It helps a lot and provides us with a valuable method to communicate the event's success to our supervisors.

If you have a few extra minutes, the Global Game Jam appreciates when jammers complete their Jammer Survey:

I am always so happy when I look back on the past jam with fondness! Not only did everyone participate with integrity and kindness, but resulting in 9 games is pretty astounding. I was a great pleasure to meet and jam all of you.

Until next year!

Friday 1/26 update...

Submitted by timsamoff on

We're almost there, Jammers!

Our site registration has been officially closed! If you know someone who would still like to join, tell them to register on the Global Game Jam website and then send their GGJ username on Discord. If you haven't yet joined our Discord, please do so at:

The following information was posted in our #ggj24 channel on Discord.

Here are some things to know about our space in order to help you prepare…

  • We have roughly 45 computers between two labs. But we currently have 56 jammers at this point and, since we’re a school, other students may be doing homework on some of the computers.
  • If you plan on using our computers, bring a hard drive. Our computers operate in Deep Freeze, which means that when the computer reboots, it returns to its default state and all previous files are deleted. Normally, computers aren’t rebooted during the jam, but it’s best to work off of a hard drive. (Hard drives are not thumb drives -- thumb drives have a tendency to fail for project of this nature.)
  • Bring headphones, preferably with a quarter-inch jack (or adapter). Our computers are set to use high-quality audio output interfaces.
  • If you bring your own laptop or desktop computer, we have a classroom that has tables for you to use. (Consider bringing a power strip if you have a lot of peripherals.)
  • Guest Wi-Fi access here is hit-or-miss, so bring an Ethernet cable if you're bringing your computer.
  • We can offer space on our GitHub Team if you like to work that way and don’t have enough personal space. DM us on Discord and let us know.

Sign-in begins at 5:00 PM tonight and the event starts at 6:00 PM.

See you all soon!

Monday 1/22 update...

Submitted by timsamoff on

Greetings Jammers!

Only 5 days to go until our jam begins! If you haven't done so yet, please join our Discord server:

When you get there, head over to the #skills channel and click on the skills that you would like to use (or learn) during the jam.

Our jam will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, Jan 26 and wraps up around 7:00 PM on Sunday, Jan 28. If you're planning on staying the entire time, bring whatever you'll need to make our hard floors more comfortable. We do not have showers here, but we do have restrooms.

Food is provided for the most of the event: dinner is provided on Friday and Saturday evening and breakfast is provided on Saturday morning. Snacks are also available. Lunches, if you're hungry, are your responsibility -- we have several local restaurants within walking distance. Also, if you have special dietary needs, please bring your own food.

We are located inside of APU's West Campus at 701 E Foothill Blvd in Azusa (do not get directions to the East Campus). When you get to the campus, you'll see Felix Event Center. Drive all the way to the back alley to find parking. Our offices are located to the left (east) of the shipping bay.

We're super excited to see you and jam with you. Please send a message on Discord if you have any questions. (And look for at least one more announcement before Friday!)

See you soon!

Global Game Jam 2024 @ APU!

Submitted by timsamoff on

Hello Jammers!

Just under three weeks to go until GGJ 2024 at Azusa Pacific University (Jan 26 - 28). We hope you're getting amped up for an amazing time meeting new people and making some games!

If you haven't already, please join us on Discord server at:

As you prepare for the event, here are a few things to know:

  • We have computers and software if you don't want to bring your own.
  • We will be providing food/snacks/refreshments, although there are restaurants nearby.
  • We have a space for those of you who are going to stay/sleep here for the weekend, although you will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, floor mat, etc. -- anything that will help you be comfortable on a hard floor.
  • We have restrooms, but do not have showers. Bring whatever you'll need so that you don't stink the place up. 😉
  • Game uploads typically begin around 3:00 PM on Sunday and we stream a presentation of the games at 5:00 PM.
  • Please be prepared to help clean up a little after the Sunday presentations.

Some maps to our location are below. If you have never been here, we're about 20 min east of Pasadena, right off of Foothill Blvd.

Feel free to send any questions to timsamoff on Discord.

See you soon!
