Filibepolis
About
Filibepolis is a comedic board game with cards, wherein the action takes place in a fictional mockup of a city, loosely based on Plovdiv and its local dynamics.
The players can choose from a wide variety of characters, each of whom has a different goal, attempts to gather different resources and has a different winning condition. In addition to the playable characters, there are also 7 factions/types of local residents, dispersed in three main areas of the city – the city center, the neighborhoods and the suburbs. Each faction has a mood meter and different cards and actions affect the mood of the factions. Cards can also generate 3 different resources – power, money and chill. Apart from the 3 regions, there is also a festival zone, where festivals can be organized as a combo of 2 cards – a musical style and an activity/theme. These affect the mood of the different factions (positively or negatively) as well.
The game is played in rounds, where players take turns to play cards in the different regions to try to gather resources or affect the mood of the population of the region. There are also both universal cancel cards and cards that can stop certain actions.
The goal of each player is to moderate the mood of the factions and/or gather a certain resource, depending on the winning conditions of the character they’ve chosen.
At the end of the game, the resources and mood of the factions are scored based on a scoring system, and the player with most points based on their winning conditions is declared the winner.
