Site applications are now open for Global Game Jam and Global Game Jam Next 2024!
Click the Host a Jam Site button on the home page to begin the process. Both GGJ and GGJ Next site applications will be handled through our main website for 2024.
Once again in 2024 we will be allowing for in-person, virtual, and hybrid sites depending on what works best for your community in terms of accessibility, as well as health & safety regulations and precautions.
Remember that starting with for GGJ 2023 people 16 years of age and up are able to participate in Global Game Jam! Previously the minimum age was limited to the local age of majority and up, which is typically 18+. But with more and more schools offering young people the opportunity to learn game development tools and the abundance of online resources and tutorials being available we thought it made sense to lower the participation age to 16+.
GGJ will continue the format started in 2023 with site organizers having the full week of 22-28 January 2024 to choose the 48 hours in that time period that works best for them and their community.
We expect most sites to jam during the weekend of 26-28 January, but sites can operate any time during the week that works for them.
GGJ Next is our games creation event aimed at young creators that we moved in 2023 to coincide with GGJ Main so that jammers of all ages can all feel like a part of the same global event, all making games at the same time and on the same theme.
The very popular GGJ Prep Week will return in 2024 and be held from 15-19 Jan 2024, where we will be providing content from our sponsors and community members all week on our various streaming platforms to get you ready to jam.
The theme of GGJ 2024 will be revealed globally prior to the start of the jam on twitch.tv/globalgamejam on 20 Jan 2024 with a live stream starting at 9am Pacific time.
