Global Game Jam 2017 is go! Here is what you need to know...

The wait is over! Global Game Jam ® 2017 is happening right now, and we're here to help you make the most of it! The following tips will help you to have the smoothest possible experience this weekend.

  • Check out our comprehensive list of jammer resources. Remember this link; it could be a life-saver!
  • Please read and remember our code of conduct. We want everyone to have a good time, and following these simple rules will help make that happen.
  • Keep in touch! Follow @globalgamejam and the #GGJ17 hashtag on Twitter, join the Facebook page and group, and see if your site also has a Slack group or IRC channel.
  • If you get stuck on a problem, don’t suffer alone. Never forget that GGJ is not a competition: the heart and soul of this event is collaboration, so don’t be afraid to ask your neighbors for advice.
  • If you’re having personal difficulties, help is available. If you are having any kind of medical crisis, or even if you just need a quiet space where you can chill out, your site organizers will be glad to assist. You can also email [email protected] if you need a hand.
  • It is a good idea to get your game page up on the GGJ website about lunchtime on day two, and you should try to be ready to start your final upload by the early afternoon on day three.
  • Please don’t talk about the theme publicly until it has been officially announced. If you’re unsure, check the "Is the GGJ theme public yet?" web page.

Of course, the most important tip is to have fun! The whole point of GGJ is to bring people together to enjoy making things with a team of talented individuals. Enjoy yourselves, try to get some sleep, and be excellent to one another.
