The secret is out, and the theme for Global Game Jam® 2016 is.....
RITUAL
"As the theme committee this year, our challenge was to resolve the possibilities inherent in a number of different priorities: selecting a theme that is globally inclusive and understandable, is innovative in form and content, is a good fit for both beginner and advanced jammers, and otherwise maintains the unique identity and values of the Global Game Jam. Our theme this year was chosen because of its rich cultural connotations, personal connections, and conversely, its connection with the mundane and ordinary. We hope the theme will inspire jammers to draw on a wide range of individual experiences and cultural perspectives to express, and create something extraordinary!"
