Hey everyone!

Thanks to all of you, both on and off campus, we were able to meet (and exceed) our expectations for capacity!! This is an awesome start to the semester and we couldn't have done it without you.

Hopefully we'll be seeing you tonight, either online or in person!

Below are some FAQs about the event for those who have never been to a game jam before!

      What is a Game Jam?

A Game Jam is an event in which you are challenged with creating a video game from scratch in a time limit. Global Game Jam is an annual event that lasts 48 hours.

Do I already need a team to participate?

You do not have to have a team before joining the event. Teams will be formed when the event begins.

      What will I create?

That’s entirely up to you! Each game jam has a “theme” that guides your creativity. These prompts change yearly and are only a simple word or phrase. Previous examples are "Roots" (2023) “Duality” (2022), “What home means to you” (2019), “Ritual” (2016), and “Extinction” (2011).

I don’t have experience programming or designing games, can I still participate?

      YES!

There is no programming experience, design experience, etc. required. You can create something with whatever experience you have so far. The Global Game Jam is not a competition; it is an event designed to get people creating awesome new gaming experiences!

To help alleviate some learning curves, we will provide GGJ workshops on the following dates to help prepare you for the jam:

      January 12th, 2024, at 5:00pm in Neff Hall B27:
