Welcome to APU's 5th Annual Global Game Jam!
We are excited to have you join us for our fifth GGJ event. Here are some highlights from our first year:
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
This is an all-access event, geared towards attendees of all levels!
Keynote Speaker
We are delighted to have Brock Henderson, a 13-year game development veteran who has shipped over 25 titles on nine platforms with more than 3 million downloads and has worked with companies such as Numinous Games (That Dragon Cancer) and Soman Games (the Redwall series).
Equipment Needed
We will provide space, computers, and software, but it is recommended that you bring your own equipment for the best experience!
Since this is an online event, you will need to have a computer and software (dependent on the team and project). Typically, games are created using Unity, Unreal Engine, GB Studio, GameMaker Studio, Godot, etc. You may also use online solutions such as Twine, Bitsy, and PuzzleScript. Check out the system specs for those game engines to ensure you have an adequate computer.
Tabletop games are also an option, so if you'd rather work with a team to create a board/card/dice/etc. game, feel free! We have limited supplies that can be used for making non-digital games and are also close to several places where you can purchase more.
Food is Provided
Food and beverages are provided on-site and we are within walking distance of several local restaurants.
Other Considerations
If you are planning on staying for the entire 48 hours, you should bring a sleeping bag/blankets, a pillow, a floor mat, toiletries, etc. We have space for you to sleep, but it will be on the floor. There is access to restrooms, but no shower options.
