UNDEAD CRAWLER - THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL

Undead Crawler is a 2D RPG, scrolling down dungeon crawler, with the premise of keeping a sacred campfire alight consistently to prevent the roots from beneath to take over the overworld. Within the dungeons that the player (a noble knight) has to traverse, in which you will find a central room where the campfire stays. Extruding from each wall are doors that are unlocked from entering them & defeating mobs & mini-bosses, for there they hold fragments to supply to the campfire in a certain time interval before the campfire releases the roots to the overworld, leading to a game-over state, having to restart from the very beginning of the game. When defeating mini-bosses, those fragments also contain a fragment to expand the character's skill tree, in its movement/attack abilities, as well as physical attributes. When completing all of the side doors, you will have to return the last & final fragment to the campfire, where all the doors will lock, and the ultimate boss with multiple attack phases, with specific patterns to not punish the player too much. And the end will result in a cinematic that will give a cliffhanger to the character finding a hidden layer underneath the dungeon, eluding it to a second game.
