Synthetic Garden Tower Defense

Synthetic Garden Tower Defense is a short and simple tower defense game. In a world overrun by self-replicating synthetic lifeforms, you try to make a living for yourself as one of dwindling human survivors. Armed with a weaponized turret, try to find peace on your plot of land. For this GGJ, I wanted to improve my technical skills. As a result, I tackled this jam solo, following guides/tutorials to make my own project. I had recently watched the Brackeys tutorial on making a tower defense game, so that was what I was familiar with. What's that saying, if all you have is a hammer, all your problems look like nails? I made what I thought I could after following along the tutorial. In terms of the jam's theme, I wanted to approach it from the duality of machinery and synthetic life, but also of creation and destruction. It's a fundamental game mechanic that destruction gives you the tools to create, and I wanted to use that in this game as well. The play field is split between the left where enemies approach and the right where you use metal scraps to grow a garden. As a one-person team without much technical experience, I obviously didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked, but this was a good exercise in working with Unity scripts, UI, and other technical elements that I hope to continue improving upon.
