In Passage, the player assumes the role of a Spirit Guide. These guides aid souls, lost in the eternal darkness of the Forest of the In-Between, to find the light after death and guide them into the Afterlife. Past traumas and grievances are lifted from their conscience as they find their final resting place. This time, a soul has lost a beloved hat he wishes to take with him into the Afterlife, and the player must help him find it.
