************************************************************
You have registered or are about to register for Hong Kong’s eighth Global Game Jam event! Welcome back if you have joined us in the past! The event is organized by PolyU Computing in collaboration with Cyberport and PolyU Design.
We have recently updated the participant checklist on our blog, please see it here http://ggjhongkong.blogspot.hk/p/what-to-bring.html. If you google for 'game jam tips' you can find more good advice. In case you have questions regarding any of the points, do not hesitate to contact us through [email protected]
WHERE AND WHEN?
The game jam will take place at Function Rooms, Level 3, Core F, Cyberport 3, Cyberport, 100 Cyberport Road, Hong Kong.
You can find the updated breakdown for the event http://ggjhongkong.blogspot.com
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
After the theme and diversifiers of the jam are announced, there will be time for brainstorming. Participants will then get to share their ideas and form groups based on the ideas they like the most. The main goal is to bring different expertise areas together.
This is supposed to be a fun and relaxing event (although it will be pretty crazy and hectic, too!). So, let's gather in a collaborative spirit and be open to sharing our tips and comments with other groups as well. Global Game Jam is not a competition. Instead, this is a possibility to show the global community what kind of talent and potential Hong Kong has!
WHAT TO DO NOW?
We still have space for some jammers. Please tell your friends to hurry to register if they are interested. Remember, the game does not have to be a digital one - it can be a board or a card game, too!
If you are planning to stay overnight you may also want to think about bringing your own sleeping bag or blanket in order to make those long nights working on your games more comfortable.
NOTES ON LAPTOPS AND CHARGING
As our Hong Kong site grow and grows each year we have to deal with increasing electricity demand at the jam site. In order to lighten the load on the electricity supply and be a bit more environmentally friendly, we would really appreciate it if you do not keep laptops/tablets/phones etc charging constantly throughout the event and only charge them when absolutely necessary. Please consider back-up batteries instead of charge cables when you are coming to the event.
If for some reason you are not attending GGJHK after you registered, please let us know asap: [email protected]
