A penny pusher game with a narrative that takes place over a 5 (real) day span.
The game is intended to be run on android but also works on PC. It is controlled with either the mouse or touch screen entirely, allowing for 1 handed operation. The game has been tested with a Samsung Galaxy S2 which was a high end phone 4 years ago, so hopefully this means it should run on most phones these days fairly well.
General Explanation of game premise:
**Everything below will "spoil" the game**
This game explores daily rituals and addictions by forcing the player to play every day (in order to get full story) for at least 5 consecutive days, if they miss a day then the game is reset. Using the 1-5 keys on the keyboard can be used to select the current day [dev tool, but left in to make the game quickly playable if needed], make sure to do it as soon as possible if you do since things may break if you switch days mid game. On each of the 5 days different things may happen, the first two days are pretty mundane with the player climbing the fake leader board being the main point of interest, But during day 3 the lighting will start to flicker and after the player is down to 15 remaining coins they will bring out their phone after receiving a text from someone (left nameless to allow player to assume its someone who cares for them whoever that is in their life). These texts will continue for the rest of the days allowing for the user to respond to the texts from multiple choice, the narrative is somewhat branching but there are only 4 branches and all have the same ending. All In game assets were self made.
I believe that if compiled for Linux, IOS and so on that the game should work without issues. But I haven't done this because I don't have any apple devices to test on and I didn't want to test every OS under the sun in a 48 hour jam :)
Extract the zip file and navigate to the executable file, the game will launch when you click that.
Copy the apk file to your phone, navigate to the apk file in your phones file browser (or download a file browser from play store if you don't have one) and click on it, this should then install the game. Your phone may require you to tick a box in your phone's settings to allow app installs from outside of Google's Play Store, this is a security feature to prevent people from installing unsafe apps by accident, You can re-enable it after this application has installed if you want to put that safeguard back in place.
