An interstellar strategy game where your information is limited by the speed of light: when you receive information about events that happened on a planet 20 light-years away, for example, you know that those events actually happened 20 years ago and things may be drastically different by the time you get there. The further away a planet is, the more obsolete your information about that planet. You can travel at light speed, so when you travel to these planets many light-years away, time doesn't pass for you, but to the rest of the universe, it took years to travel. Your mission is to fight off the Space Mongols, a relentless horde of vicious conquerors that are determined to conquer the galaxy, no matter how long it takes. They can travel at the speed of light too, but they spend some time at each planet they conquer, fortifying them and asserting their rule, before moving on to the next planet, so you can still have some advance warning of where they might attack next.
