High Concept

Guidance from Above is a fast-paced simultaneous cooperative Board Game. The players are guides trying to rescue tourists from a deep and dark cave that is about to collapse.

Components

1 Board
4 Pawns (1 in each player color)
4 Ladders Tokens (1 in each player color)
1 Sand timer (1 minute)
2 6-sided Dice
20 Floor Cards

Setup

Place the board on the table, in reach of all players.
Shuffle the Floor Cards and set them aside as the Floor Deck
Draw 1 Card from the Floor Deck and place the Ladders in the board as indicated in the card.
Now, each player roll both dices and place their pawn in the square indicated. If a player rolls a coordinate that is already occupied by a ladder OR another player, he roll the dice again.

Object of the Game

The game is about guiding adventurers to the exit of a dungeon about to collapse. The players have to pass through every floor of the Dungeon, before it collapses by reaching their respective ladder.

How to Play

Reveal the top Card from the Floor Deck, and place the ladders on the board, as indicated in the card.

Now flip the Sand timer. The players have exactly 1 minute to get out of the Floor.

Players act simultaneously, so there is no turn on this game. They have to talk and act as fast as they can.

Movement

The players can move their Adventurers in a straight line, to any of the four directions (North, South, East and West).

Once the adventurers is given a direction, they will move forward in that direction until it encounter a wall, another player or a ladder from other players. If any adventurer found it's own ladder in he's movement, they will climb it and go to the next floor.

Asking for Help

Sometimes, the adventurers will not be able to find the Ladders for themselves, so another guide can send help (their adventurer) to help others, since the players stop movement as they meet others adventurers in their way.

Times Out!

When the time in the Sand timers runs out, that floor collapses! If any number of players still on that floor, the game ends, and the players lost. If all players reached their own ladders, they all go to the next floor.

Next Floor

The players draw a new Floor Card from the Floor deck and adjust the Stairs (and only Stairs) to their new location. The adventurer’s pawns stay in the same place they were in the end of the last round. This repeat every time the players manage to climb their ladders until one of the end game conditions happens.

Game End

The game ends immediately if one of these conditions are met:

If at least one player did not manage to climb their ladder by the end of the Sand time. In this case, the players lose the game.

If the players manage to climb all the ladders of the last Floor Card of the deck. In this case, the players wins the game.
