Project Caesar is a rogue-like game. Throughout the game, the players will control the main character, code named "Caesar." Caesar is tasked by the Senate to defend the republic against the looming threat of an advancing army. Caesar has to unite the republic by amassing a large amount of followers from the “Outlands” and striking down any who oppose. Yet contrary to this task, players can choose three ways of how to deal with the outlanders; through total destruction, joining forces, or using stealth tactics to recruit from within. As players advance through the game, their choices on how they have dealt with the outlanders will influence the state of the game world, as well as the followers they have recruited. Players will start to see themselves reflected in the world around them; their followers will adopt the tactics and habits of the player; the different factions of the world will start to change based on how the player has dealt with them in the past. At the end of the game, the player will die, either by old age or someone else’s hand, but another main character will take their place and experience the world as the old player has shaped. It will then be up to the player to continue the path of the previous character, or shape the world anew in their image.
