Medium is a one-player performance-based game where players take on the role of a character searching for someone who has passed away. Players need to appease the various denizens of the spirit world using only music, before they can find whom they seek. Medium was designed with a novel user-interface in mind. The game has no visuals. Rather, players play blindfolded, relying on their senses of touch and hearing to interact with a specially-built game-board, blindly guiding an orb into specific locations in order to create music. Players are helped by an actor, taking the role of a medium. this performative element ensures that the game is personal and unique for each participant. This game uses an Arduino and four buttons that are pressed by rolling a metal sphere into 'sound wells' that are located in the North, South, East and West of the Medium Board. Players need to create certain musical patterns using these elements in order to proceed with the game.

Non-digital game (board game, card game, physical game, sport, etc.), Other digital platform
We fabricated our board and components at ITP Tisch School of the Arts, and programmed our physical-computing elements using an Arduino. Sound is created by bending sine waves to make tones.
