Black Hat Oculus

*UPDATE* This game has been worked on past the game jam. We're raising money on Kickstarter and are showing at the 2014 Boston Festival of Indie Games! More information: This is a 2-player co-op heist game for the Oculus Rift. Player 1 is the bandit, running around the world, avoiding guards and grabbing loot. Player 2 in the hacker, with a top-down view of the level. P2 can see more of the dangers than P1 can, and has to communicate to P1 by typing.

Technology Notes:
This is a local co-op Oculus Rift game. It requires 2 computers on the same wifi connection, along with an Oculus Rift for player 1. Player 1 must start the game (using "A" on the title screen) before player 2 (using "B" on the title screen). If you're not on the same wifi connection, or if you don't have internet at all (but have two computers LAN-d together), you may still be able to play. After player 1 has started a server, player 2 can type player 1's IP address on the title screen, and then hit B. This hasn't been extensively tested, but it seems to work! Source can be found at
Installation Instructions:

How to play:

(Note: P1 and P2 must be on the same wifi connection)

P1: Load up the game and hit "A" to enter Bandit mode and start a server.  You can now put on the Oculus Rift - your goal is to pick up loot and get to the end of the level!

WASD or Arrow keys to move (or joysticks if you're using an XBox 360 controller)

E to interact with items (or A on controller)

P2: Load up the game and hit "B" to enter Hacker mode and connect to P1's server.  Note that you must do this after P1 has started the server and entered the game.

You have a top-down view of the map that P1 is running around in.  Use the arrow keys to move your view of the level.  Type to communicate with P1, 'enter' to clear text.  You can see obstacles that P1 can't, including lasers, traps, and enemy view cones.  Make sure you communicate these dangers to P1!
