These videos were recorded at the end of GGJ 2014 and serve as a nice reminder of how much fun and exciting GGJ can be!
Dear GGJ fans,
GGJ is the largest jam in the world. We are expected to break 30,000 participants in January 2016, as we get ready to do this for the eighth time. In honor of that milestone, here are a few things you can do to support Global Game Jam now.
I was raised in the USA and never learned a 2nd language. Now that I look back on my formative years at school I realize what a mistake. Luckily as a Professor and starting the Global Game Jam has granted me entré to many opportunities and thankfully, games translate universally, no language lessons needed. But most excitedly, when I travel it is easy to find fans of the Global Game Jam. I am now transitioning to be the GGJ International Ambassador after having served as President of the organization for the past two years. I will be traveling all over the world, attending conferences, speaking and talking to everyone about the Global Game Jam and our new initiatives. Please contact me if you would like me to be a speaker at an upcoming event. I am super excited and look forward to meeting the thousands of people that make up the GGJ.

Each year participants and organizers are eagerly awaiting the one theme that unites them all. It's no small feat to keep the theme a surprise to all timezones equally! This year was no different, with people trying to 'pry' information from earlier timezones whom in turn were super troopers and made it 'the best kept secret' as people mentioned on twitter. There was even talk about 'potatoes' being the theme!
At time of writing participants & organizers at 480+ locations in 70+ countries are now prototyping, creating, enjoying food, collaborating and some of them are even finishing up their games. And they have one other thing in common. The theme!
So let's get to it:
The theme for Global Game Jam 2014 is...:
