Welcome to the Global Game Jam 2010
You still have to register for the Global Game Jam™ and join game developers from around the world in a 48-hour marathon game-developing weekend. From 5 o’clock Friday, January 29 until 5 o’clock Sunday, January 31, anyone who has ever wanted to create their own video game will have the chance to join others at 0 locations in 0 countries around the world.
It is not easy building a game that is fun to play (especially in 48 hours), it is a complex system of ideas that interact together and result in an unique player experience. Games tell stories, share ideas, teach and communicate a lot about our culture and show us how other cultures demonstrate the same idea. Best of all, after the GGJ is done, everyone will have all those games to play here on the website archive.
A good portion of the population plays some sort of video game, be it on social networks, mobile devices or home consoles. Games are pervasive in our culture. The Global Game Jam is an important event every year because it celebrates game development’s inexhaustible possibilities and will result in so many new games that are free for everyone to play.
The Global Game Jam is not for the faint of heart. It is meant to be a challenge. The GGJ website will host tutorials and Q&A from experts in the industry. We hope that developers take this opportunity to create new relationships and build new bridges around the world. We have a unique opportunity to explore a common passion united under one theme, we hope to foster innovation and experimentation. GGJ encourages people to go outside of their usual work method and try new things. GGJ’s biggest goal is to provide opportunities, help developers explore their creativity and allow everyone in our community to work together.
Good luck to You
