Global Game Jam®, is still the biggest and most diverse gathering of game creators in the world. Making it into the record books again in 2016, it is happening again 20-22 January 2017 and you can be part of it!
Thanks to the amazing site organizers in 2016, we had 632 sites over 90 countries and with your help we want to continue from strength to strength in our ninth year. If you plan to be a marvellous site organizer for #GGJ17, you can register your site here. One of our volunteer Regional Organizers will be in touch to check you are all set up for success and help you with any issues or questions you may have. Please be patient with them, they are all volunteers and sometimes have a lot of sites to get through.
For Immediate Release
San Luis Obispo, California, (August 30, 2016) -- The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) and the International Conference on Game Jams, Hackathons, and Game Creation (ICGJ) are joining forces. ICGJ will become the second event to be managed and organized by Global Game Jam Inc., an educational nonprofit based in San Luis Obispo, California. Dr. Allan Fowler, founder of ICGJ commented:
The Global Game Jam is the go-to place for anything related to game jams, both inside and outside of academia, and thus I am very happy to work with GGJ board to make this unique academic event even more exciting.
It may look quiet here, but rest assured there's plenty of activity underway already in preparation for Global Game Jam® 2017!
Site applications will open in October, jammer registrations will open in November, and we'll let you know all about it when it happens.
In the meantime we are busy getting everything ready to go. Once site registrations open, those of you new to GGJ will be able to create their accounts. There will be more information soon and we can't wait to share it with you.
Are you planning your GGJ yet? We'd love to hear about it on Twitter, you can chat with us via @GlobalGameJam or just use the hashtag #GGJ17. You can also find us on Facebook.
We are pleased to introduce the most excellent volunteers who will help manage Global Game Jam® in 2017. Thank you to all the wonderful Regional Organizers (RO’s) for taking the time to make GGJ great!
