Mindy the Space Fish is a persistent omnivore which will exist until the end of time.
You are Mindy's minder, feeding her pesky Red stars and keeping her from eating the pretty Blue stars.

As Mindy's minder, you are free to ignore her. However, if you want to stick around with Mindy, your life will be full of problems.

  • Red stars are painful to you, so you should throw them all to Mindy.
  • You've got nothing against Blue stars and would be very sad if Mindy ate them all, so you'll need to protect them from her.
  • You and Mindy would both be sad if Mindy ate you, but Mindy cannot help herself if you get too close.

Installation Notes: 

There are two downloadable packages:

  • SpaceFish_v101.zip - Contains built game, source assets, source code, etc...
  • SpaceFish_GameOnly_v101.zip - Just the game
  1. Decompress the SpaceFish_GameOnly_v101.zip archive to your hard drive (if you downloaded the full archive, the file is located at release/SpaceFish_v1.zip).
  2. You will need to install the XNA Game Studio 3.0 redistributable from Microsoft (Free Download Link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6521D889-5414-4...).
  3. You will also need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (Free Download Link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4...)
  4. The game requires a Microsoft XBox 360 Controller plugged in to the computer (or an equivalent XInput-compatible controller), so make sure it is attached. If you forget, don't worry; the game will warn you and allow you to exit with Escape.
  5. Run the executable SpaceFish.exe (or SpaceFish_ShaderModel2.exe)

There are two versions of the executable:

  • One for Shader Model 3 or later hardware, which includes post-processing effects
  • One for Shader Model 2 or older hardware

If you get a black screen during the main game or know that you have a Shader Model 2.0 card, try the SM2.0 executable (SpaceFish_ShaderModel2.exe).

Mindy likes to eat things.
You are Mindy's minder.

Care and feeding of the Space Fish:

  • In particular, there are Red stars and Blue stars floating about that Mindy wants to eat.
  • Red stars are painful to you, so you should throw them all to Mindy.
  • You've got nothing against Blue stars and would be very sad if Mindy ate them all.
  • You and Mindy would both be sad if Mindy ate you, but Mindy cannot help herself.

Controls
Left Analog Stick:

  • Controls your space ship

Right Trigger:

  • Pull down to activate your StarBeam TM.
  • The harder you pull down, the stronger the beam will be.
  • Be careful when controlling the Red stars, since they can hurt you.

Back Button:

  • Quit the game

Start Button:

  • Show the "How to Play" text
